Could not connect to VCSA 7331 vcenter web client console

VMware vCenter Server Appliance 5.5 web client console fails only when using Mac OSX operating system. It will not fail when using any browser on Microsoft Windows.

 

Error messages:

unable to connect to port 7331

 

could not connect to server-address:7331

unable to connect to port 7331

 

Solution:

  1. Ssh into the VCSA as root user
  2. Edit file /usr/lib/vmware-vsphere-client/server/wrapper/conf/wrapper.conf# vim /usr/lib/vmware-vsphere-client/server/wrapper/conf/wrapper.conf

    Add the following line under the Environmental Variables section:

    set.default.VMWARE_JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jre-vmware

    Example:

    # Environment Variables
    #######################################################################################################
    # Location of virgo server directory
    set.VIRGO_KERNEL_HOME=/usr/lib/vmware-vsphere-client/server
    # Location of NGC instance directory
    set.default.INSTANCE_DIR=/usr/lib/vmware-vsphere-client/server
    set.default.CONFIG_DIR=%INSTANCE_DIR%/configuration
    set.default.JMX_PORT=9875
    set.default.LOG_DIR=/var/log/vmware/vsphere-client
    set.default.JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jre-vmware
    set.default.VMWARE_JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jre-vmware

  3. Save and exit:
    :x
  4. Restart vSphere Web Client
    # /etc/init.d/vsphere-client restart
